OUR STORY
Our company is an Australian owned family business. It was founded by Peter over a decade ago, who spent several years after university working overseas, only to return to Australia with a renewed appreciation of our beautiful country. It’s certain things you really value after years away… the amazingly unique flora and fauna, sounds of rain on the tin roof, the smell of a freshly cut lawn, and summer rain on the road…
Shaped by this experience, Peter became passionate about ensuring Australians have access to world class products, which make it easier for everyone to live more sustainably, and so protect our unique country.
So, after a few years of research, many prototypes, and even more sleepless nights for his entire growing family, the Compost-A-Pak® brand was born.
Peter now works (mostly) harmoniously with his wife Mel, who he convinced to leave a corporate career to join the cause. The brainstorming now happens in a bright green warehouse in Newcastle, with an extremely talented, diverse team, where many of our products are now designed from initial sketches to world class products. We are all very proud to have grown into one of Australia’s leading suppliers of compostable products…
It seems Peter’s passion to inspire Australians to be more sustainable is infectious.
HOWEVER
THE BEST STORY IS THE ONE ABOUT OUR PRODUCTS
LET’S TAKE YOU TO THE FARM

WHERE IT ALL BEGINS
The magic organic ingredient used in Compost-A-Pak® products is corn. We choose corn as it is an annually renewable crop. Unlike trees, corn can re-grow and be harvested in a single season.
The actual crops are deliberately sourced from international GMO-free regions with high levels of rain, to minimise any irrigation. In addition, the actual corn kernels selected are classified as third grade corn. A waste product normally left by farmers to rot, this spoilt corn is not suitable for human or animal consumption, so even the chooks don’t miss out!

From traditional farming practices to cutting edge science and technology…
Using purpose built biodegradable resin extruders, a BF Series Resin is extracted from the combination of corn starch, biodegradable ingredients, and some proprietary elements. From this resin, blown film bags are then formed in a range of styles, sizes and thicknesses. We design the bags specifically for customer convenience, and to our unique, strict minimum standards of thickness for durability. The blown film bags are then printed with soy-based, non-toxic printing inks, and packaged in a wide variety of options.
We are really proud that through re-engineering this purpose-built equipment, our liners are made with significantly less electricity consumption, compared to manufacturing on conventional extrusion equipment!

THE KEY POINT IS THAT WE HAVE DONE ALL THE WORK TO ENSURE IT’S REALLY EASY FOR YOU TO LIVE MORE SUSTAINABLY.
